WJR has a range of programmes with the aim of empowering women living in poverty to become self-reliant and financially secure individuals.

Many single and young mothers, carers and isolated elderly women can find themselves struggling below the poverty line and in need of assistance. As well as community-wide projects which both directly and indirectly benefit these women, WJR supports training programmes in the former Soviet Union intended to help disadvantaged women become financially independent and lift them and their children out of a cycle of poverty.
