WJR is dedicated to fighting human suffering and serving the urgent needs of primarily, but not exclusively, Jewish communities who are at risk or in crisis around the world.
In conjunction with local partner Unity, WJR provides emergency and social reintegration services to the homeless of Kharkov, Ukraine, through the use of street patrols.
A major WJR-funded project provides home repairs for older people and single-parent families with poor living conditions in Zaporozhye, Lvov and Kiev in Ukraine and Kishinev in Moldova.
This programme aims to make the lives of older people and those with disabilities easier with the free transport system the project aims to put in place throughout Ukraine.
WJR supports programmes that relieve this burden by providing nutritional support in the form of food vouchers, canteen and meals-on-wheels programmes and soup kitchens in Serbia, Ukraine and Belarus.
Savyon Lodge is a home for older Jewish people in Bulawayo, housing 14 individuals with an average age of 86. Residents have their own private rooms, receive three meals a day and care is provided by trained nurses and carers.
