At the end of July 2010, heavy rains triggered both flash floods and riverine floods in several parts of Pakistan, resulting in loss of life, widespread displacement and damage. WJR's emergency appeal has supported the purchase of 1600 family kits, supporting nearly 13,000 people. WJR's support has also assisted towards the reconstruction of 180 family homes destroyed in the recent floods.

Pakistan was already an impoverished and underdeveloped country, recently devastated by an earthquake in 2005 which killed 75,000 people.
