Creativa, Kharkov, Ukraine

This project is run by Creativa, an organisation set up by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities.

The five basic priorities of the organisation are:

• Complex social rehabilitation of wheelchair users
• Social transport system 'Invitaxi'
• Creation of an accessible environment for people with limited mobility
• Promotion of the integration of people with disabilities into society
• Creation of a positive stereotype concerning people with disabilities

The organisation has a very positive attitude towards disability, focusingo n the "ability" aspect. Together with the Municipal Government, Creativa has established a bus service for people with disabilities in Kharkov.

There are currently only two buses. One of the buses has a "crawler lift" - a lift that allows people in wheelchairs to negotiate flights of stairs in order to use the bus service. WJR will provide for a second "crawler lift".
