The ability to earn a living wage and access to a safe home environment are the most basic requirements for daily survival and can provide a way out of poverty. Long-term dependence on international aid and welfare is unsustainable and being able to live independently is desired by most individuals, irrespective of their economic situation.
Our approach enables vulnerable people, both individuals and communities as a whole, to build sustainable livelihoods, aiming to help people move beyond a mere subsistence existence to independent lives led with dignity, with enough resources to be able to invest in their long-term futures and provide for their families. With this intention in mind, WJR supports programmes offering vocational training and career skills development for the unemployed and low-income individuals with families who depend on them.
