Sponsor a child through WJR and you could help children from a very special Jewish school. Vulnerable children for whom, without your support, an adequate education may not be possible.
When you sponsor a child, we will send you information about a spokeschild from Lyceum Shaalavim in Kharkov, Ukraine. You will then receive regular updates from your spokeschild at the school, so that you can see how your donation is making a difference.
Opened in 1994, Lyceum Shaalavim in Kharkov, Ukraine, is a vital resource for the impoverished community, where life is becoming increasingly tough, especially for the most vulnerable sections of society. Sadly, in Ukraine, there is still a huge amount of social stigma associated with having a child with special needs. Most schools will refuse to admit children with even the mildest of disabilities - pupils who, in the UK, would be enrolled in mainstream schools without question.
Support children from this unique school today through our Sponsor a Child programme
Thankfully, Lyceum Shaalavim is able to offer a unique combination of specialist support and traditional Jewish education. This means that not only can children with disabilities receive an excellent education; they can also become part of a Jewish community, giving them a sense of dignity, belonging and self-esteem.
Sponsor a child today and your money will help support a child for an entire year, with learning materials, transport to and from school, school meals, educational facilities and much more.
