WJR’s Gifts in Kind (GiK) programme sends clothes, toiletries, blankets, shoes and household products among the many items that impoverished communities in Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union simply cannot afford otherwise.
All too many families in Eastern Europe face extreme financial hardship that can leave them having to choose whether to spend their small income on food or medicine if a family member becomes sick. Buying warm clothing, blankets and bedding required to survive a long, cold winter lies far beyond the means of these families and the elderly. Winter goods such as coats, boots, jumpers, hats, scarves and gloves are wanted all year round.
GiK’s success depends entirely upon the generous support of companies and individuals without which this lifeline would not be available. Over the past 10 years, Gifts in Kind has sent over £28m of humanitarian aid but the need is constant and ongoing.
