Although food and medicines are becoming more available in Zimbabwe, prices remain exorbitant due to the high foreign currency costs required to import goods.Receiving no government subsidy, the home is funded entirely by residents' charges, investments and donations from the local community and abroad, including WJR. Conditions in Zimbabwe necessitate regular trips over the border to stock up on locally unavailable food and medical supplies.

In 2011-12, WJR's grant contributes towards the provision of food, fuel, medical supplies and the overall running of the home.
