On the morning of the 8th October 2005 an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter Scale hit NWFP (North West Frontier Province) and Kashmir, Pakistan devastating an area of 12,000 square miles. Over 73,000 people were killed, 128,000 were injured and 17,000 children were orphaned. 3.5 million people were left homeless as shelters and houses were destroyed. 1.1 million people lost any means of earning a living and 10,000 schools and colleges were destroyed
