Vocational Training for Minority Groups
Based in Tbilisi, this project aims to provide vocational training in dressmaking, insurance and cookery for the most vulnerable, with the emphasis on reaching internally displaced people (often living in dire conditions and suffering social stigma) and mothers (often sole provider for numerous relatives).
The programme offers training courses in clothing design and manufacture, chef training and insurance sales. The three areas were selected based on the current employment market and ability to help students to find work at the end of the programme.
Those enrolled on the courses receive professional instruction based on theory and practical skills.
54 individuals will benefit from this programme in 2009-10 - 18 on each course.
