As is the general Georgian population, the ten thousand Jews in Georgia are facing the continual struggle of trying to make ends meet. Pensioners in Georgia have it particularly hard as state assistance is low and does not even begin to cover their most basic of needs. The country is abundant in food stuffs thanks to its fertile land but costs continue to rise, in part, due to the angry rift with neighbouring Russia. World Jewish Relief and its local partner in Tbilisi and Rustavi aim to improve the lives of these people when their government and families can not.
