Following the 2001 economic crisis, WJR took the initiative and opened a number of programmes to assist the Argentinean Jews who suffered particularly throughout the crisis. As a predominantly middle class community, the Jews were especially badly hit- without intervention from WJR, thousands would have had to leave their homes and move into shanty towns and makeshift homes. The entire project has had a focus on retaining the dignity of people unused to requiring external assistance, and on helping families begin rebuilding their lives and communities.
