KEY FACTS

10,000 Jews in Georgia, with 3000 living outside the main towns.

67% live below the poverty line, in crumbling Soviet-style apartment blocks.

94% of elderly Georgian Jews who do not qualify for restitution aid

WJR works with the local communities in Tbilisi and Rustavi to provide chronic welfare relief to their most vulnerable older Jews.

Support covers food, homecare and winter relief.

Food support is in the form of parcels, meals or food cards dependent upon an individual's situation.

Winter relief provides vital goods during the extreme winter months: blankets, coal and warm clothing.

Home care is provided to those most in need - homebound individuals living alone.
