More than 200 people attended Young World Jewish Relief’s inaugural cocktail night on Saturday 12th January. The event was held at Mary Jane’s bar in Aldgate and raised more than £2500 for the humanitarian aid charity.
The theme of the night was ‘red and black’ and guests dressed to reflect this. Music was provided by DJ Danny, while bakery Lola’s provided a variety of cupcakes.
The funds raised will help support WJR’s vital work transforming the lives of individuals and communities living in abject poverty. Working with local partners in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and in countries around the world, WJR focuses on supporting those most in need, helping them to identify long term sustainable solutions.
Catherine Mansoor, Volunteer and Community Fundraising Coordinator at World Jewish Relief commented:
“It is fantastic to see so many young people supporting WJR. The funds raised will really help WJR to continue its work assisting poverty stricken communities in Eastern Europe. The YWJR committee are working on some very exciting projects at the moment and we look forward to building on tonight’s event.”
