Last month, Nicki Marks hosted a ‘Pampered Chef’ event at her home in Hatch End, raising a remarkable £1500 for WJR (World Jewish Relief). The Pampered Chef is a ‘show and tell’ method of selling quality kitchen products and demonstrating simple, effective recipes.

Following Nicki’s nephew’s Barmitzvah that was held in a marquee in her garden, she decided to utilise the unoccupied space, before it was dismantled, to gather some friends for a unique food experience and to learn more about WJR’s work. Fifty women joined Nicki and The Pampered Chef consultant for a cooking demonstration, lunch and a raffle that included sought after Pampered Chef products.

Paul Stein, Head of Communication and Fundraising for WJR, attended the event and commented:

“Huge thanks to Nicki for organising such a original event – which absolutely epitomises some of the objectives of WJR’s new initiative ‘The Big Hand’; an umbrella for all our volunteering, fundraising, and community activities. The Big Hand does not ask for any commitment and offers total flexibility – but everyone can make a huge difference by doing something that is genuinely useful.”

Nicki’s husband is also a WJR supporter and raised over £5000 last year by completing a sponsored walk.
